So- all day I had been having what I thought were Braxton Hicks ( or as Tim and I call them Toni's Braxtons). Tim had canceled his scheduled trip to Las Vegas- but instead he had a conference call starting at 7p.m. Around 6:30 I started having weird pressure building. It felt as though I had to go to the bathroom.. alot so that is where I went. the little voice in my head said "Call you mom to come over" so at 7:30 pm I call Maddy she comes over. I call my Dr. and he had told me to lay down and if they do not go away or get stronger to come on in. S, Mom arrives at 8:15 I call Tim and tell him that I need to go to the Hospital. He says he'll leave in 10min. around 8:35-8:40 I ask McK to ge me a towel in case my water breaks.
She runs those little legs of hers up stairs and gets me a towels- Meanwhile she puts on her robe ( I do not know what she was expecting- but she looked cute) I am waiting on Tim- Maddy calls him and he is still on 400. 8:45- My water broke. I call the first number that comes into my head- Marla Nilson- "Marla- my water broke could you drive me to the hospital" Marla: "are you serious"- Me: Yes Marla: Seriously Me: yes.
She is there, in seriously, 3 minutes..in this time, I decide I am not going to make it and instruct Maddy to call 9-1-1. I she does..but first gives them the wrong address..which makes me Yell..I don't live there..But like the whipper snapper she is she corrects herself. and while we are waiting to hear the glorious sounds of sirens- I am on the floor-on all 4's trying not to give birth in my kitchen. Marla is rubbing my back like a Douala who had trained under the Dali lama of Mid Wifery. Totally calming m down- getting me water- AMAZING. Can't praise her enough!!
While the sirens get closer- Maddy is relaying questions being asked by the dispatcher on the other end of the line. Is there Blood? NO.. are there body parts hanging out? NO.
The Firetrucks and Ambulance arrive. They stroll in and ask Where is our little patient?" OH- That would the women on all fours in her kitchen. So they carry me to the bed and wheel me down the drive way. ( i'll try and speed things along).
I get in the rig ll the while wanting to push and push. I ask the EMT if I could push with the contractions or would she like me to work through them. After working through 2 this baby was coming- so she let me push. I push once- Head is out- Push again and there she is..Our daughter all 6 lbs 10 oz of her.
I gave high 5's to the people in the rig and they wheel me into the labor delivery room.
There was Tim waiting for me to come in and deliver or baby..and to his surprise I brought the bundle of Joy into the room. The nurses were at a loss and were upset that all they got to do was paper work. My doctor said 'Thank you so much for paging me to deliver you Placenta.." No problem Dr. Donnelly- only the best for you.
So it was-- to say the least--- an amazing experience that worked out only do to the efforts of many different parties...
But I Have to add these Quality Quotes from McK during this whole ordeal....
Scene: When my water broke: (She jumped up and clapped) I saw it I saw it!! Mom I saw your water break...
Scene: Me- on hands and knees- breathing through a contraction: She got down with me "Just breathe Mommy..Just breathe" (I think she took a class from Marla)
When the Fire men and Ambulance Arrived: Scene: Mck yelling in her robe from the top of the driveway..
"Hurry, My moms about to have the baby- My moms about to have the baby on the floor"
Thanks again to everyone!!! Camryn is a very happy and beautiful baby.
oh.. and I am doing great as well.
